Two Southeast Missouri State University students became embroiled in a confrontation in a Magill Hall restroom just before 9 a.m. Monday, which resulted in one being transported to Saint Francis Medical Center.

One student allegedly pushed another into the glass window divider. That student sustained injuries from the broken glass but was released later Monday after treatment, said Art Wallhausen, spokesman for the university.

Investigators believe the two students were alone when the confrontation began.

"Witnesses came on the scene after the fact, they heard a crash, there was a lot of blood, and they rushed him to the hospital," Wallhausen said.

The other student was questioned by the university's Department of Public Safety, but no criminal charges have been filed at this time.

Some information was turned over by police to the university's judicial board to consider whether disciplinary action should be taken as a result of the preliminary investigation, Wallhausen said.

Investigators are still interviewing witnesses and those involved trying to determine whether or not anything criminal occurred, said Wallhausen.

The names of the students have not been released by the university.
