Farris students perform concert Saturday

Students taking voice instruction under Southeast Missouri State University faculty member Judith Farris will perform in a recital from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Shuck Recital Hall on the River Campus grounds. The recital will feature three of Farris' university students and two Central High School students studying privately under Farris. The public is welcome to attend.

Bingham art lecture tonight in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Art Museum will host a lecture on the work of George Caleb Bingham, coinciding with its exhibit on the making of Bingham's "The County Election," at 7 p.m. today. The lecture is open to the public. Barbara Groseclose, professor of art history at Ohio State University, will talk about Bingham's career. For more information call the museum at 314-721-0072.

Town Plaza to show Met Opera performances

The Town Plaza theater will show a series of performances by the New York Metropolitan Opera starting Dec. 15 with Gounod's "Romeo et Juliette" at noon. Performances will be broadcast live via satellite. Other performances will follow, including a New Year's Day performance of Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel."
