The filing period for most Scott County towns' April election ballots opens Dec. 18. Already Scott City Mayor Tim Porch has decided he will run for re-election. The filing period for most Scott County towns' April election ballots opens Dec. 18.

Already Scott City Mayor Tim Porch has decided he will run for re-election.

Porch was first elected in 2000, when Porch defeated Rodney Holloway and Pete Sturm.

The mayor said his main reason for decided to run again is current ongoing projects that involve the city, such as the Ramsey Creek Bridge project and efforts to get a new Interstate 55 interchange constructed. Porch said consistency in the city's top post is important as these projects move forward, since he's been dealing with these issues of eight years.

"I don't want to walk away from the MoDOT projects until we're done with them," Porch said.

Oran will also elect its mayor. The seat is currently filled by 12-year incumbent Tom Urhahn.
