CARBONDALE, Ill. -- An alliance of Illinois colleges will offer online instructional work on homeland security.

The partnership includes Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Governors State and Chicago State.

SIU Carbondale associate provost Patricia Elmore says a certificate in homeland security would be helpful to people in criminal justice, management and public administration.

Classes include "Principles of Computer Security" and "Foundations of Homeland Security and Disaster Preparedness."

The program also will be offered also at the Edwardsville campus of SIU.
