PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robert Miget, Perryville's mayor, died Saturday at his home. Perry County Coroner Herb Miller said the death was the result of natural causes.

The city government will now need to select an acting mayor in the interim between now and the April municipal elections. That decision will likely be made Tuesday night when the Perryville City Council meets.

Miget was mayor for more than 20 years, first taking the post in 1984. Before that, Miget was a city councilman from 1980 to 1984.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
