The Scott City Park Board and the not-for-profit Scott City Youth League have agreed on terms of a new contract between the city and the league, with little changes from the previous contract.

The contract, which allows the Youth League access to city ball fields for its youth baseball and softball, had become the center of a dispute in October. At that time, the idea of terminating the contract had letting the city take over youth sports had been considered, and a rift formed within the youth league over alleged mismanagement.

That same month the city council voted to terminate its contract with the Youth League, contingent upon a new contract being negotiated and signed before the new year.

Monday night the council authorized the mayor to sign the agreement.

Youth League president and city council member LeAnn Wilthong said since October the controversy has died down.

"It was kind of out of sight, out of mind," she said.
