Robert H. Dressler, 80, of Edwardsville, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

He was born July 17, 1927, in Sebewaing, Mich., son of Lendon and Anna Nitz Dressler. He and Caroline Louise Hartwig were married Feb. 20, 1954, in Los Angeles.

Dressler had worked at Alta-Dena Dairy, U.S. post office in Culver City, Calif., Scenic Regional Library and Kriege Hardware in Edwardsville. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, the Rev. Steven Dressler of Altenburg, Mo., Donald Dressler of Edwardsville; a daughter, Karen Mann of Pocahontas; a sister, Regina Salcido of Gagetown, Mich.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gary Galen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Ill.
