SIKESTON, Mo. -- Vesta Blanche Bailey, 92, of Sikeston died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at her home.

She was born June 22, 1911, in Seymour, Mo., daughter of James Walter and Mamie Hicks Denney. She and Robert Lewis Bailey were married Sept. 10, 1933, at Mansfield, Mo. He died June 3, 1984.

Bailey had been a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of New Madrid Chapter 293 Order of Eastern Star and a past grand representative of Virginia, district deputy grand matron of 51st District, and grand organist of Missouri Grand Chapter.

Survivors include six grandchildren, Scott Snodgrass, Rilla Smith and Carol Snodgrass, all of Memphis, Tenn., Martin Carlisle of Risco, Mo., David Carlisle of Germantown, Md., Edward Carlisle of Olive Branch, Miss.; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, and a sister.

An Eastern Star service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
