BREWER, Mo. -- Bertrand V. "Bert" Mattingly, 78, of Brewer died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, Mo.

He was born June 20, 1929, at St. Mary, Mo., son of Vincent and Rosella Gibbar Mattingly. He and Margie Brewer were married April 26, 1952, at Brewer.

Mattingly had worked at Mississippi Lime Co. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Mark, Bruce, Kent and Kris Mattingly, all of Perryville, Brady Mattingly of Edwardsville, Ill.; three daughters, Lisa McGivern of Edwardsville, Connie Prost of Perryville, Kathy LaRose of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Cullen Mattingly of St. Mary, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 6:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ the Savior Church, with the Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in Christ the Savior Church with military honors provided by American Legion Post 133.
