Cape Girardeau County AARP to meet Monday
The Cape Girardeau County Chapter AARP No. 4041 will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church at Broadway and Caruthers Avenue. The program will be "The Area on Aging." There will be a drawing and a door prize.
Relay for Life plans Cape, Jackson kickoff events
Kickoff meetings will be held for this year's Relay for Life from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Burger King at Route K and Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau and from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Jackson. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, a fundraiser in which teams of participants take turns walking the track to raise money in the fight against cancer, will be held from noon to midnight May 17 at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau. Cancer survivors and those interested in forming a relay team should contact the American Cancer Society at 334-9197 for more information.
Organization plans fundraising banquet
Whitetails Unlimited is planning a fundraising banquet. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Bavarian Halle, 225 Drury Lane in Jackson. The event includes an auction, door prizes, sporting equipment, limited edition wildlife and outdoor art and collectibles. The ticket deadline is Jan. 18. No tickets will be sold at the door. Alzheimer's Association to hold trivia night
A trivia night to benefit the Alzheimer's Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the VFW Post 3838, 1409 N. Kings-highway in Cape Girardeau. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. Admission price includes a chili supper, snacks, beverages and Anheuser-Busch products. Teachers to compete in dodge ball tournament
Teachers from every building in the Jackson School district will be competing against each other in a dodge ball tournament at 6 p.m. March 7 at Jackson Middle School.
