A tornado watch was issued Monday for Bollinger and Perry counties that will remain in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

"We're expecting the watches to continue on Tuesday," said Mike York, a meteorologist wiht the National Weather service in Paducah, Ky.

Along with the tornado watches, York said the region may be peppered with severe thunderstorms. The storm front struck southwestern through central Missouri Monday, and was expected to shift east late Monday night.

"There is some potential for tornadoes," York said.
