It will be a battle of Scotts in the Scott-Mississippi Conference boys basketball tournament title game.

No. 2 seed Scott City defeated Kelly 56-52, while top-seeded Scott County Central beat East Prairie 86-59 in semifinal action Thursday in Delta.

In the early game, Caleb Johnson scored 24 points and Drew Thomas added 22 for the Braves. Scott County opened a 14-point lead at halftime and pushed the lead to 20 points after three quarters.

D.D. Gillespie added 19 in the win.

In the late game, Scott City opened a 10-point lead at halftime and held on while Kelly chipped into the lead. Caleb Estes led the Rams with 15 points, while Shae Simmons added 12.

Josh DeBrock paced the Hawks with 16 points.

Scott County and Scott City will play for the title at 8:30 p.m. today at Delta. Kelly and East Prairie will play for third place at 5:30 p.m.

Wendi Zickfield was the lone player in the contest to finish with double-digit points.

The Central junior finished with 11 points and snatched 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers (7-7).

Tiffany Haertling led the Crusaders (2-11) with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Saxony started four freshmen in the contest, and only trailed 4-2 after the first quarter.

"I thought we were just playing really good defense," Saxony coach Steve Fritzler said of the opening period. "We weren't stalling."
