February events at the Cape Girardeau Public Library:n The Adult Winter Reading Club begins Feb. 1 with a fantasy theme as readers delve into the world of make believe. There will be book suggestions, activities and prizes for participants. Registration begins Feb. 1 at the information desk; by calling 334-5279; or online at www.capelibrary.org. • At 7 p.m. Feb. 4, Paul White Eagle, chief of the AhNiYvWiYa tribe, will share myths and folk stories from American Indian heritage. Families are encouraged to participate. No registration is required.
• The library will be closed Feb. 18 for Presidents Day.
• At 7 p.m. Feb. 28, a discussion of the 2008 United We Read selection, "Tallgrass" by Sandra Dallas, will be held in the library's meeting area. The story is told from the view of a 13-year-old girl who lives near a Japanese internment camp.
• Steve Pledger, local historian and director of the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, will present "Searching for Military Genealogy" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The meeting will be in the genealogy department of the library. No registration is required.
