St. Louis Co. shooting victim was daughter of Ill. mayor

RIVERVIEW, Mo. (AP) -- A 43-year-old woman who was shot to death in north St. Louis County has been identified as the daughter of a longtime Metro East mayor.

Jody Becker was fatally shot early Saturday in Riverview. She was found dead on the street.

She was the daughter of longtime Smithton, Ill., Mayor Virgil Becker. He served as mayor of the St. Clair County community from 1989 to 2005.

Police have not said if they have a suspect or a motive in the shooting.
