O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) -- A St. Charles man faces charges for allegedly trying to rape the leasing agent who was showing him an apartment.

Authorities say 27-year-old Jason Solari went to O'Fallon Lakes apartment complex Sunday to inquire about an apartment. A leasing agent took him to an apartment. Police say Solari blocked the front door and tried to rape her.

The woman escaped after a struggle and screamed for help. A witness called police.

Solari told authorities he had toured the apartment with his wife the day before and thought the leasing agent was sending him signals that she wanted to have sex.

Solari was charged Monday and is held on $150,000 cash-only bail.
