Hale beats Kinnaman for men's open title

Cape Girardeau's Rob Hale defeated Jerry Kinnaman of Cape Girardeau, 7-5, 6-2, to win the men's open singles division of the Snowman indoor tennis tournament recently.

In the A singles, Jackson's Ish Patel defeated Cape Girardeau's Gary Corse, 6-3, 6-2.

In the open doubles, Cape Girardeau's Brevin Giebler and David Berry defeated Sikeston's Charlie Moore and Danny Cooper, 6-3, 6-4.

In mixed doubles, Mike and Jan Keefe of Cape Girardeau defeated Cape Girardeau's Bill Bradley and Jackson's Donna Ryan, 7-6, 2-6, 7-6.

Scheer earns player of week honors

Craig Scheer, a 1994 Cape Central graduate, was named the offensive player of the week in the Major Indoor Soccer League.

Scheer, who plays for the California Cougars, has achieved career highs in three-point goals (three) and points (23) this season. He has also matched career highs in multi-goal games (two) and game-winning goals (two) through 15 games played.
