To the editor:Last Friday our next-door neighbor's house burned to the ground. Our thanks to the East Cape County Volunteer Fire Department, the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department and the Delta Volunteer Fire Department for the professionalism and tireless effort they exhibited in fighting this blaze.

A major problem the firefighters faced, through no fault of their own, was the lack of pressure at the hydrant closest to the blaze. Apparently, this is due to the fact that our subdivision is at or close to the end of the water line. This is troublesome to us, as we would face the same problem is we had a fire.

Thanks also to the Salvation Army disaster canteen, which also showed up to give aid.
