Panthers tie state 3-point record

After losing four of its last five games, the Meadow Heights' boys basketball team finally found its touch, torching Zalma 110-67 in a make-up game at home.

Meadow Heights hit 24 3-point field goals in the game to tie a state record set by Scott City in 1997.

The Panthers (11-9) shot an electric 67 percent from the field in the first half, and the two teams combined for 100 points by halftime.

"It feels good, especially after losing four out of our last five," Meadow Heights coach Tom Brown said. "I don't know what it was, but something was just in the air, and we just kept hitting everything."

The Panthers kept broke Scott City's state record for most 3-pointers attempted with 45.

Anthony Bollinger, who hit seven of the Panthers 3-pointers, led the team with 36 points. Terry Wagner, who had six 3-pointers, scored 18 points, Joel Hahs had 11 and Brian Thompson added 10.

The Panthers shot 53 percent from behind the arc, and eight different players had at least one 3-pointer.
