Cross Trails Medical Center will be offering free diabetes screenings and education from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. today at the Cape Area Family Resource Center, 1202 S. Sprigg St. The screenings are open to all ages, and no appointment is necessary. A fasting blood glucose level test will be provided. Fasting after midnight is required. SIKESTON, Mo. — The Scott County Republican Committee will eat at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Grecian Steak House in Sikeston. The meeting is at 6 p.m.

Cape Friends to hold contra dance April 5

A free contra dance beginners' session will be held from 6:45 to 7 p.m. April 5 at Christ Episcopal Church, 101 N. Fountain St.in Cape Girardeau. A contra dance to live music by Quittin Time will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m., and a bonus swing dance workshop will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.
