The Bell City baseball team pushed across a run in the bottom of the 12th inning to hand Oak Ridge its first loss of the season, 4-3 on Tuesday. Melvin Johnson allowed two earned runs over five innings of work for Bell City, then Nick Niemczyk shut out the Blue Jays (5-1) the rest of the way...

The Bell City baseball team pushed across a run in the bottom of the 12th inning to hand Oak Ridge its first loss of the season, 4-3 on Tuesday.

Melvin Johnson allowed two earned runs over five innings of work for Bell City, then Nick Niemczyk shut out the Blue Jays (5-1) the rest of the way.

Niemczyk allowed one hit and struck out six to record the win for the Cubs (2-2). Jeff Long led the winners with two hits.

Scott City's boys knocked off host Chaffee by two points to win the five-team meet.

Scott City took first place in the 3,200 relay, 800 relay and 1,600 relay.

Chaffee captured first place on the girls side.

Scott City's Stephanie Essner took home three first-place finishes. She won the 100, the 200 and the 300 hurdles.
