A free woodwind concert scheduled for tonight night at the River Campus has been canceled. The U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America Woodwind Quintet was scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building on Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Local counties approved for disaster assistance

Gov. Matt Blunt announced Wednesday that 47 Missouri counties, including several in Southeast Missouri, are approved for public assistance as a result of March flooding. Damage assessment teams identified $28.5 million in damages to public infrastructure like roads, bridges and other facilities, Blunt said in a news release today. The 47 counties approved for assistance are: Barry, Barton, Bollinger, Butler, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Crawford, Dallas, Dent, Franklin, Gasconade, Howard, Howell, Iron, Jefferson, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Madison, Maries, Miller, Mississippi, Montgomery, New Madrid, Newton, Oregon, Osage, Pemiscot, Perry, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, Ripley, St. Clair, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, Stone, Taney, Texas, Washington, Wayne, Webster and Wright. The State Emergency Management Agency will soon notify local officials about meetings to explain how to get public assistance funds.
