The Central High School girls swimming team got its season started Saturday by finishing eighth out of 12 squads at the Marquette Relays.

Host Marquette won with 284 points, followed by Parkway South (220) and Parkway Central (210).

The Tigers had 104 points.

Central's top performance was by the diving relay team of Jackie Erlacker, Staci Cook and Amanda Dewrock. The group placed second.

The Tigers have their first home meet Tuesday, hosting city rival Notre Dame at 4 p.m.
