Mesha Russell of Cape Girardeau was among more than 300 students named to the fall 2003 semester dean's list at Union University in Jackson, Tenn.

Kellogg named among state's top seniors

Alicia Kellogg, a senior at Oak Ridge High School, has been selected as an honorable mention student in the 2004 Missouri Scholars 100. The program is statewide and recognizes 100 of Missouri's top academic seniors. It is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, and candidates are nominated for the recognition.

Area student to take musical tour of Europe

Cara McElmurry of Cape Girardeau is among 224 Missouri high school students chosen to tour seven European countries this summer with the Missouri Ambassadors of Music program. The 16-day tour will include concerts and sight-seeings. McElmurry is the daughter of Herman and Regina McElmurry.

St. Vincent students win math competitions

Students from St. Vincent de Paul School in Cape Girardeau recently won chapter-level MathCounts competitions and will advance to a state competition March 20.

1st place -- David Westrich, son of David and Mary Westrich.

5th place -- Kristen McLain, daughter of Peggy McLain and Rick McLain.

6th place -- John McLain, son of Peggy McLain and Rich McLain.

7th place -- Blake Palmer, son of Desi Palmer and David Palmer.

Team winners:

1st place -- Westrich, Palmer, Kristen McLain, John McLain. Those students have been invited to compete at the state level.

Bohannon appears in Lawrence U. production

APPLETON, Wis. -- Brad Bohannon, a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, appeared in three recent performances of Lawrence University's production of Francis Poulenc's 20th-century surrealistic opera "Les Mamelles de Tiresias."

A sophomore at Lawrence, Bohannon portrayed a citizen of Zanzibar. He is the son of Jeffrey and Gale Peterson of Scott City.
