Thomas Boyd Valle, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 15, 2004, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Oct. 20, 1919, at Farmington, Mo., son of Carl F. and Genevieve Boyd Valle. He and Dorothy Gallagher were married Aug. 29, 1941, in Farmington.

Valle had been a building materials buyer at Associated Building Center. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and served as an usher, member of VFW, Optimist Club and had volunteered 19,000 hours at St. Francis Medical Center.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant with the 82nd Airborne in the European Theater. He was awarded four Bronze Stars.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terry and Craig Valle of St. Louis; two daughters, Susan Perry of Marion, Ill., Benita Inman of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Bill Valle of Coralville, Iowa; a sister, Ella Valle of New York, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

There is no visitation.

Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Fairmount Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.

Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
