Over the past nine years, we have had children active in the Jackson High School Drama Club. Despite recent budget cuts, the leadership shown by Bob Clubbs as sponsor and director for the past three years has afforded the club and its participants positive opportunities.

The fall musical, "Way Out West in a Dress," was a phenomenal success. Friends and family from St. Louis and out of state report it was one of the best high school productions they had seen. Thirty-five students participated on stage, and 14 students supported them behind the scenes. The spring production of "Rapunzel Uncut" and "The Cards of Fate" included 28 students on stage and seven involved in crew roles. Everyone involved filled a vital position and helped with the success of each production.

The spring productions have been selected for both district and state competitions. The first year (2003) the drama club entered the one-act competition, it won at district and competed at the state level.

The JHS drama department is growing, offering new challenges and opportunities for all those interested in participating. Clubbs acknowledges not only acting talent, but also commitment, cooperation, positive attitudes and dependability, which are attributes that all high school students need to develop. We look forward to many more years of entertaining productions at Jackson High School and hope that the school will be blessed with Clubbs' vision for years to come. We can't all be stars, but we can all shine.
