Raymond Leo Sievers, 89, formerly of Jackson, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Jackson, son of Henry and Mary Zeller Sievers. He and Martha Hoffmeister were married March 17, 1961. She died Feb. 20, 1997.

Sievers was employed 40 years at International Shoe Co., and then was custodian at St. Paul Lutheran School. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, and a charter and honorary member of the Men's Club.

Survivors include a son, Michael Sievers of Lake Ozark, Mo.; a daughter, Sharon Godwin of Des Peres, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
