SIKESTON, Mo. -- Virgie Marie Hayes, 74, of Sikeston died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1929, at Kennett, Mo., daughter of Grover and Minnie Dillon Neldon. She and Albert Snowden Hayes were married Feb. 16, 1949, at Kennett. He died April 5, 1985.

Survivors include four sons, John, Jerry and Tommy Hayes of Benton, Mo., Jim Hayes of Port Richie, Fla.; three daughters, Joyce Wooten of Margate, Fla., June Hayes of Scott City and Carla Tarver of Sikeston; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a grandchild, and several brothers and sisters.

There is no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Scott City. The Rev. Terry Eades will officiate.
