City council will hold special session Monday morning to decide whether to proceed with two water plant projects that could receive 75 percent funding from Economic Development Administration; administration allocated special funding for flood recovery and mitigation, and city of Cape Girardeau was invited to submit projects for consideration.

Doctors say Cape Girardeau police officer Dan Niswonger will recover from injuries, but healing process will be slow; Niswonger was seriously injured in motorcycle accident Saturday.

The Rev. William Hobson is installed as pastor of new Bethel Baptist Church; Hobson is graduate of American Baptist Theological Seminary of Nashville, Tenn., and holds bachelor of arts degree in pastoral ministries and church administration.

The Rev. John E. "Gene" Gourley of Jackson has taken over duties at First Pentecostal Assembly in Cape Girardeau; former pastor, the Rev. A.J. Johnson, died in October 1978.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Following recommendation made by student council of high school, Sikeston City Council ordered strict enforcement of curfew law designed to keep youngsters off streets at late hour at night.

Billy Hampton has purchased Burger Bakery, 1029 Broadway, from Mrs. W.H. Burger, whose family has operated establishment for quarter century.

75 years ago: April 8, 1929

Remonstrance protesting construction of milk plant at intersection of Themis and Hanover streets is filed by 44 residents living in vicinity of site; recently, Cape Girardeau Milk Co. purchased lot at this location, which officials said would be site for plant to be erected some time this year.

Plans for inauguration of construction program which will equip Cape Girardeau plant of Marquette Cement Mfg. Co., for doubling its present capacity are announced by president of company, Theodore Dickinson of Chicago.
