An MRI on Thursday revealed inflammation in the elbow and a strain in his flexor tendon, according to the Astros.

Saint Joseph's guard Jameer Nelson won the John R. Wooden Award, the season's last major player of the year award. Nelson averaged 20.6 points, 5.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 steals, finishing as the Hawks' career leader in scoring and assists.

Redshirt freshman Marcus Woods ran for 109 yards and Damien Nash gained 92 more -- with each scoring a touchdown -- in the Missouri Tigers' yearly Black and Gold scrimmage that traditionally marks the end of the team's spring drills. Though the defense defeated the offense 60-49, the defense had a tough time slowing the Tigers' rushing tandem of 5-foot-8, 180-pound Woods, who carried 11 times, and 5-foot-11, 211-pound Nash, who had nine runs.

Miscellaneous

Broadcaster Pat Summerall received a liver transplant Saturday and was recovering in an intensive care unit, a hospital spokeswoman said. The 73-year-old former NFL kicker had been on the waiting list at St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., since April 2. Transplant surgeon Jeffrey Steers said the 2 1/2-hour surgery was completed without complications. Summerall was listed in stable condition.

Tennis

Bob and Mike Bryan gave the U.S. Davis Cup team a 2-1 lead over Sweden, beating Jonas Bjorkman and Thomas Johansson 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. The U.S. can win the best-of-five quarterfinal by taking one of two singles matches today. Andy Roddick plays Bjorkman first, and Mardy Fish follows against Thomas Enqvist.
