Lorraine Whitmore, 85, of Dexter, Mo., died at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter, April 9, 2004. She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Snohornish, Wash., daughter of Harry and Martha Newton Salter. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, former president of the United Methodist Women's Club, a member of the Thimble Club and the Pinochle Club. Lorraine Whitmore, 85, of Dexter, Mo., died at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter, April 9, 2004.

She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Snohornish, Wash., daughter of Harry and Martha Newton Salter.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, former president of the United Methodist Women's Club, a member of the Thimble Club and the Pinochle Club. She was a former buyer and sales clerk at Lois's House of Fashion.

She and Walter A. Whitmore were married Sept. 17, 1939, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He died Feb. 18, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol White of Dexter, Mary Jane Banken of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Gorden Salter of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Arlene Brown and Shirley Brinsfield, both of Adelphi, Md.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Monday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. The Revs. Fred Leist and Roy Sherfield will officiate. Burial will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
