The Jackson Board of Aldermen Monday night approved a $3,000 donation to go toward the Fourth of July fireworks display.

That amount is down from $5,000 a year ago when the Jackson Jaycees put on the show.

This year, the Jaycees decided not to orchestrate the festivities, so the Jackson Chamber of Commerce is developing plans.

The board also approved a bid of $855,563 to Dutch Enterprises Inc. of Jackson to move the utilities for the Highway 34-72 project.

And the board also voted to authorize a master service agreement with Willie Sandin to provide engineering services for the city. Sandin said he was offering his services free to the Jackson Soccer Park Association for irrigation design and wants to continue to do the same when the city takes over the soccer park property.
