In response to Sam Blackwell's April 5 column: We sure do have cleanup day in California, and what fun it is. I know people who have furnished whole houses with the treasures of the street. I will also confess to being a Dumpster diver myself. Years ago I found a great rattan chair in the trash that I had to have. The problem was I was on my bike. I put my arms through the open arms of the chair and rode home with the chair on my back. Problem solved. I hate to hear that my hometown of Cape Girardeau has done away with such a useful activity. Long live cleanup day.
