SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ira Brummett Gillean, 78, of Sikeston died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Jasper, Ark., son of Grant and Lucinda Weston Gillean.

Gillean had worked at Inland Steel and U.S. Gypsum.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Curry and Cathy Woolan of St. Louis; two brothers, Arnold Gillean of Sikeston, Denver Gillean of Englewood, Fla.; four sisters, Willia Campbell of Sikeston, Genevieve Smith of Dyer, Ind., Nellie Collier of Pensacola, Fla., Loretta Sherman of Troy, Mo.; a friend, Teresa Freeman of Sikeston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mike Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
