Football

The Chicago Bears signed one quarterback and released another, the team said Sunday. The Bears signed undrafted free agent Ryan Dinwiddie. The former Boise State quarterback was a two-time all-conference player who set school records for passing yards, passing efficiency and touch down passes. The team also released former Northwestern University quarterback Zak Kustok. He signed with the Bears as a free agent in March.

Golf

Jennifer Rosales shot a 7-under-par 65 for her first LPGA Tour victory, overcoming Annika Sorenstam, Grace Park and other more acclaimed players to win the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship. Rosales began the day four strokes behind 18-year-old Aree Song, who was trying to become the youngest winner in the history of the women's tour. Song fell apart in the final-day spotlight, soaring to a 78 that put her nine strokes behind Rosales. The 25-year-old Rosales finished at 14-under 274, one stroke ahead of Park (68), Rosie Jones (67), Becky Morgan (68) and Jung Yeon Lee (65).

Playing in his first tournament since winning the Masters, Phil Mickelson moved into position to make it two in a row at the HP Classic. Mickelson shot a 69 in the third round to move into a tie for second with Charles Howell III , two strokes behind leader Joe Ogilvie. Ogilvie shot a final-round 66 for a 17-under 199. The final round was pushed back to today because of rain delays in the first two rounds. Ogilvie, looking for his first PGA Tour victory, had six birdies and no bogeys on the round. He had his best finish last week in the Shell Houston Open, finishing tied for 19th, but has made eight of 11 cuts this season. Second-round leader Danny Ellis shot an 10-over 82 to fall way off the pace.

Bruce Fleisher shot a 4-under 68 and coasted to a seven-stroke victory at the Bruno's Memorial Classic, the largest winning margin in tournament history. Fleisher entered the final round with a four-stroke lead, maintained the advantage through the first nine holes and then turned it into a rout with three straight birdies over the final six holes, finishing at 16-under 200. D.A. Weibring (71) and Bruce Lietzke (67) tied for second at 9 under.

Ryuji Imada won his second Nationwide tour title, outlasting Paul Gow in a five-hole playoff at the BMW Charity Pro-Am. Imada, a native of Japan who won the Virginia Beach Open in 2000, missed a series of putts to win during the playoff before sinking a 4-footer for victory. He shot a final-round 69 and could have avoided a playoff, but missed a 7-footer on No. 18. Gow, of Australia, birdied the final two holes.

Hockey

Detroit captain Steve Yzerman is out indefinitely after undergoing 4 1/2 hours of surgery for a scratched cornea and broken left eye socket. Yzerman is expected to make a full recovery, the Red Wings said in a statement. Yzerman was hurt when he was hit in the face with a puck during Detroit's 1-0 loss to Calgary on Saturday night. He experienced blurred vision in his eye, but that improved after the surgery. Yzerman, who will turn 39 on May 9, has a franchise-record 70 playoff goals and 181 points in his 20 seasons with the Red Wings. In regular-season games, he's the sixth-leading scorer in NHL history.

Tennis

Venus Williams won her second straight WTA tournament, beating Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-1, 6-4 in the J&S Cup final. Williams won for the 11th consecutive time, following her title run in Charleston, S.C., and two victories in the United States' triumph over Slovenia in the Fed Cup. The winning streak is Williams' longest since she took 19 straight matches in 2002.
