Scott City's Andy Stephens held Bell City to three hits over seven innings as Scott City's baseball team picked up a 7-1 victory over the host Cubs.

Stephens struck out 11. Matt Schaefer had two hits for Scott City (6-8), and Ryan Glastetter had a solo home run.

Chaffee Open

Loren Groves won four events and helped Scott City dominate the girls field of the Chaffee Open. Groves won the discus throw handily, beating her closest opponent by nearly 56 feet.

Christy Laxton also helped Scott City with wins in both the 1,600 and 800 runs. Scott City won 13 of the 17 events.

Kelly took first on the boys side with help from Tyson Glaser, who won the triple and long jumps.

Casey Petzoldt won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs as Saxony Lutheran took third.
