Dry Creek memorial service announced

Annual memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Dry Creek Cemetery in Bollinger County.

Habitat for Humanity home dedication slated

An open house and home dedication for Cape Girardeau Habitat for Humanity will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at 1218 College St. and 506 S. Henderson St. The home dedication for 1218 College St. will be held at 1 p.m.; dedication for 506 S. Plainview Community cemetery services set

The Plainview Community cemetery in rural Marble Hill, Mo., will hold its annual meeting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship building at the cemetery, located approximately five miles north of Marble Hill on Highway 326. The Relay For Life meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday has changed its location to Cape County Park North.

Civil War information to be presented at library

A Civil War/Memorial Day information night will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. The Richard J. Ogelsby Camp No. 61 Sons of Union Veterans for the Civil War is sponsoring the event. Several speakers, including Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle, will present information on Civil War topics and Memorial Day. Period uniforms will be worn by camp members and military medals will be displayed.

American Legion readies open house for May 30

American Legion Post 63 will hold an open house from 1 to 4:30 p.m. May 30 at 2731 Thomas Drive in Cape Girardeau. World War II memorabilia will be displayed, drawings will be held and refreshments served. The event is being held in conjunction with the dedication of the national World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.

Humane Society to offer program for youths

The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri is offering a "Kids For Animals" program this summer for children ages 12 to 15. Classes will be held weekly beginning June 1 and ending July 20. The educational program focuses on humane issues and includes a veterinary office visit, a program at the Missouri Department of Conservation office, and hands-on training. Participants will have the opportunity to volunteer at the shelter every Wednesday. There is a fee for the program; space is limited. If interested call 334-5837 with your name and address.

Old Goshen cemetery group to hold meeting

The annual meeting of the Old Goshen Cemetery Association will be at 2 p.m. May 30 at the cemetery north of Oak Ridge on Highway 427. A business meeting and short memorial service will be held. Individuals who wish to make a donation can mail it to Shirley Nabe, 2197 State Highway E, Oak Ridge, Mo. 63769.
