A program at Jackson Middle School that pairs students with senior citizens and teaches the students about life experiences has marked its fifth year. The Students Helping, Aiding, Reaching the Elderly, or SHARE, program involves dozens of students. The students regularly visit residents at Jackson Manor so they can learn about the aging process and share their talents and gifts with residents. A program at Jackson Middle School that pairs students with senior citizens and teaches the students about life experiences has marked its fifth year.

The Students Helping, Aiding, Reaching the Elderly, or SHARE, program involves dozens of students. The students regularly visit residents at Jackson Manor so they can learn about the aging process and share their talents and gifts with residents. The students play board games, clean eyeglasses and pass out drinks to residents during their visits.

Recently, the students, teacher Stephanie Martin and residents enjoyed a banana split party.

The program has ended for the school year but will resume in the fall.
