The team of Michele Litz and Rob Litz shot a 63 to place first in championship flight at the mixed scramble Ken Hayden Memorial Tournament at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Phillis Seabaugh and Ron Seabaugh (64) finished second, and Robin Davis and Lyle Davis (65) were third.

Diane Gammon and Tony Balsano (74) won a scoreboard playoff to finish first in A flight, beating out Leslie Stanfield and Mark Gobin, and Katherine Dunlap and John Abercrombie.

In B flight, Monica Parsons and Steve Parsons were victorious with an 81. Mary Ellen Bean and Frank Bean (82) were second, and Chris Kennard and Rick Kennard (83) placed third.

Dow tops A flight for Chip-A-Ways

Sharon Dow won the A flight Tuesday for the Cape Chip-A-Ways at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Bev Wink won the B flight, Linda Williams captured low putts and Vickie Howard won the play of the day.

Hale fires hole in one at Kimbeland

Jerry Hale sank his first hole in one Tuesday at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson.

Hale used a -9-wood to ace No. 12, a par 3 playing 90 yards. Witnesses were Doug Hale and Harold Bradfield.

Brey earns medalist honors in ladies league

Judi Brey was medalist Thursday in the Cape Girardeau Country Club ladies day. The play of the day was "best score on odd holes." Leslie Steele finished first, Mary Jane Eftink was second, Vicki McKinney placed third and Beth Mapes was fourth.

Grady, Williams capture SEMOhorseshoe event

Randy Grady and Melody Williams placed first in the SEMO Horseshoe Association's event May 23 at the Knight of Columbus in Jackson. Larry Burford and Ron LeGrand finished second, and Jim Burnett and Kory Kluesner took third.

Kelpe finishes first at Ascension Run

Bryan Kelpe set an age group record for runners 20-29 in winning the 13th annual Historic HanoverAscension Run onSaturday evening in Cape Girardeau. Kelpe finished the five-mile course, which begins and ends at Hanover Lutheran Church, in 28:33.

Rachel Schmidt won the women's division and set a record for 15-16 girls by finishing in 35:46.

Mitch Gerber won the one-mile run in 6:45 and Lisa Newcomer was the top women's finisher in 8:37.
