Patrolman Jason Dozier of the Chaffee Police Department confirmed that the suspect had admitted to the vandalism and that a summons had been issued. He said he could not release the suspect's name. Chaffee police chief Jeffrey Womack was said to be out of town and not available to provide any information.

Bledsoe, who alerted the news media by e-mail to the impending arrest, did not respond to repeated phone calls seeking information about the identity of the suspect or the value of the signs.
