Town hall meeting for small farmers in SikestonLincoln University Cooperative Research and Extension will hold a town hall meeting on Aug. 11 at the Clinton Building at 501 Campanella St. in Sikeston, Mo. The purpose of the meeting is to collect information from farmers in the Bootheel about their experiences with USDA programs and the challenges they face as small farmers.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Transportation to and from the meeting will be provided, with pickup and drop-off locations available for farmers in Poplar Bluff, Hayti and Sikeston. For more information or to arrange for transportation, call Cheryl Luther at (573) 688-2473.

The college awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice.

Buffalo Wild Wings becomes training unitBuffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar in Town Plaza in Cape Girardeau is now an authorized company franchise training unit. The designation will allow the Cape Girardeau eatery to be one of the few Buffalo Wild Wings outlets that is allowed to train its own managers. Local franchise owner Bill Zellmer credited the accomplishment to the efforts of his new assistant general manager, Jerry Lynn, who recently completed his corporate-level training.

New Madrid company grabs special designationKontek Industries recently acknowledged that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District Office has given the New Madrid, Mo., company the Multiple Award Task Order Contracts designation, which will give the company first consideration for contracts in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.
