The SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence has released a survey to area businesses with the intent of improving its service to the community.

"Basically, we are hoping to find out what programs are missing and which ones we can improve upon in the community," said Sara McDowell, director of independent living and program development for the Cape Girardeau-based organization. "Though this survey is required in order to receive grant money, we also want to get feedback from the community on how we can better serve them."

Surveys were sent to all Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce members earlier this week. Because most consumers in Cape Girardeau trade with at least one of those businesses, McDowell believes her organization will be able to gauge the satisfaction of the community at large.

Survey questions include overall satisfaction rating, whether the services offered meet the needs of individuals in the community and whether a family member has used the organization's services.

To obtain a survey, contact McDowell at 651-6464. SADI is a community-based, not-for-profit, nonresidential center for independent living. The organization provides services for disabled people with the goal of helping those individuals remain in their own home and community.
