Schafer wins A flight

Clara Schafer took first place in the A flight at the Cape Chip A Ways weekly golf outing.

Liz Grimes and Marge Kurre tied for first in the B flight.

Irene Winston had the low putts, while Bea Mashek had the play of the day.

Steele takes first in A flight

Leslie Steele won the A flight during the Cape Girardeau County Club's Women's Golf Association's weekly outing.

Jean Mabrey won the B flight, while Donna VanMatre won the C flight.

Kimbeland team wins gross division

The Kimbeland Country Club team of Vicki Long, Barb Johnson, Kathy Raines and Karen Heisel finished at 320 to win the gross division of the 2008 SEMO Ladies golf tournament.

The Dalhousie Golf Club team of Harriette Myers, Alice Temm, Mary Jane Eftink and Ann Dombrowski took second with a 329. The Cape Girardeau Country Club team of Robyn Young, Kathy Morris, Beth Mapes and Luanne Kiefner took third with a 338.

The Dalhousie team of Phyllis Seabaugh, Eftink, Temm and Myers won the net division with a 254. Kimbeland's teams of Karen Heisel, Sharon McCune, Dorothy Holland and Shawna Glueck took second with a 268. Cape Girardeau Country Club's team of Mary Ann Vogelsang, Kiefner, Mapes and Kathy Morris was third with a 274.

Cape Legion falls in tournament

The Cape Girardeau Ford and Sons American Legion baseball team lost 7-4 to Clarksville, Tenn., in the Dyersburg tournament Friday.

Collin Crane went 2-for-3 while Hide Tanaka went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Zach Wilson took the loss on the mound. He tossed five innings, give up six runs, four earned, while striking out one.

Ford and Sons had seven hits and committed two errors.
