Gordon T. Neumeyer, 88, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 20, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, son of Edwin and Emma (Aufdenburg) Neumeyer, who preceded him in death. He and Mary E. (Schulte) Neumeyer were married May 4, 1946, in Jefferson City, Mo.

Neumeyer worked as a purchasing agent for the Missouri Utilities Co. for 43 years until he retired in 1984; he was a member of the company's Better Service Club. He was a member of the American Legion and its Golden Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Men's Club.

He served four years in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant in the European theater in World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don (Jane) Neumeyer of Madison, Wis., Tom (Terri) Neumeyer of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Jeannette A. (Jon) Zinkgraf of St. Louis; one brother, Wilber W. (Jean) Neumeyer of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one grandson; three granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating.

Interment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.

Memorials may be made to Saxony Lutheran High School, Trinity Lutheran School and St. Mary's School.
