About 3 a.m., Butler County Deputy Danny Hicks found Pickard in a 2000 Dodge Intrepid stranded on U.S. 60. Pickard told the deputy the battery went dead and Miller was en route to a service station for jumper cables.

A background check revealed the plates did not match the car. Authorities say Pickard eventually admitted that he and Miller had stolen the car and planned to steal two more.
