MEXICO, Mo. (AP) -- The parents of a Mexican student killed in a military academy rifle range mix-up will receive $700,000 to settle their wrongful death lawsuit against the school.

Court documents show that the Missouri Military Academy agreed on June 16 to pay the six-figure settlement to Ignacio Garcia Fierros and Blanca Luz Almada Palacios de Garcia, both of Caborca, Mexico.

Their son, cadet Alain Garcia, died on Nov. 5, 2004 at the private residential school in central Missouri.

According to the lawsuit, Garcia was shot when another cadet adjusted his firing mat at an instructor's request.
