U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill tapped Caruthersville City Council member Christy Ferrell to run her Southeast Missouri office in Cape Girardeau. McCaskill announced that Ferrell will resign her post as a councilwoman to take the position. Ferrell will replace Ben Dyer, who has managed the office since early 2007. In addition to her duties as councilwoman, Ferrell has been a faculty member in the Extended and Continuing Education program at Southeast Missouri State University, teaching U.S. political sytems. Ferrell holds degrees in communication and political science from Arkansas State University. She is a native of Caruthersville.
