Sikeston holds open auditions for new play

SIKESTON, Mo. — The Sikeston Little Theatre will be holding open auditions for Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap," the first play of the company's 50th anniversary season. Tryouts will be at 7 p.m. today and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Albritton-Mayer Cultural Center, 506 S. Kingshighway. The play, directed by Mike Marsh, will be performed Sept. 11 through 14. The classic mystery has a cast of five men and three women. Anyone interested in working as a backstage crew member is asked to come to one of the tryouts. Trip to see '90 Years of Muny Magic' planned

Residents can sign up to see "90 Years of Muny Magic" at The Muny in St. Louis. The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department planned the Tuesday trip. Cost is $48 per person and includes a charter bus ride to and from The Muny. The bus will depart from the Osage Community Centre at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Concessions are available at The Muny, or you may bring a small cooler and eat on the bus. No glass containers will be allowed on the bus. Student performs benefit for trip to China

Eighth-grader Matthew Thompson will play a flute concert July 16 to benefit the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra's tour to China in May 2009. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the Shuck Recital Hall in the Seminary Building the River Campus. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
