Evansville, Ind. -- The Plaza Tire Capahas baseball team completed a 3-0 weekend Sunday with a pair of road victories over Evansville.

After winning the opener 8-0, the Capahas were pushed to extra innings in the nightcap, winning 5-3 in eight innings.

Plaza Tire (22-4), which also defeated the Springfield Pally's 1-0 on Saturday, has won 17 of its last 18 games.

The Capahas scored in each of the first three innings of the opener as they cruised behind the pitching of Central graduate Brad LaBruyere (3-0) and two relievers. LaBruyere allowed just a pair of fifth-inning hits. He struck out four and did not issue a walk.

Stan Skakalski, who struck out the side in the sixth, and Josh Parham each followed with a hitless inning of relief.

Zack Borowiak provided the only run the Capahas would need with a first-inning home run. After adding a run in the second, Plaza Tire scored five two-out runs in the third, with two scoring on a single by Chad Mercado, who finished with three RBIs and two hits.

Levi Olson had three hits and Borowiak added a double in an 11-hit attack.

Plaza Tire used a pair of sacrifice flies in the eighth inning to pull out the nightcap.

The Capahas loaded the bases with no outs on a walk to Asif Shah, a double by Josh Eftink and an intentional walk to Levi Olson. Tom Bolen and Daniel Schuh followed with sacrifice flies for a 5-3 lead.

Evansville put runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but Parham (1-0) recorded a strikeout for the second out, then induced a grounder to shortstop to end the game.

Evansville had taken a 3-0 lead in the first inning off starting pitcher Ivan Nails, but the Capahas scored in the second on a two-run double by Kendal Deason, then pulled even on a sacrifice fly by Eftink in the third.
