Lois Margaret (Bray) Bain, 96, of Ellisville, Mo., died Friday, July 18, 2008, at St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.

She was born Jan. 3, 1912, at McGuire's Corner, Mo., to Luther Warner and Ora Lee Templeton Bray. She and Rev. Lester Franklin Bain Sr. were married May 29, 1950. He died Oct. 30, 1972.

She graduated from Fornfelt High School in 1930 and was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She began teaching at Lorimier School in the 1940s and then went to Illmo-Scott City in 1958. She retired after 29 years of teaching.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ellisville and she was a former member of First Baptist Church in Scott City and Cape Girardeau. She had been president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She spent several hundred hours as a volunteer in the surgical waiting room at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She is survived by two sons, David Bain of San Francisco and Jim Bain and his wife Patricia of Matton, Ill.; two daughters, Becky Woolverton and her husband Ken of Ballwin, Mo., and Kay Jones and her husband Gary of Scott City; a brother, Alton Bray, and his wife Martha of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank; a sister, Virginia; three brothers, Riley, Bill and Paul Bray; and a grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Mike Shupert. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
