PERRYVILLE, Mo. — James Benjamin "J.B." Worthington, 58, of Perryville, formerly of Olive Branch, Ill., died Friday, July 18, 2008, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, to Benjamin and Ruth Blakemore Worthington.

Worthington was barge superintendent with Cargo Carriers Inc.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth G. Worthington of Olive Branch; a son, Ryan (Suzanne) Worthington of Perryville; a daughter, Amy (Mark) Webb of Perryville; two grandchildren, McKenna Webb and Cody Lauder; a brother, Carl Joseph "C.J." (Karen) Worthington of Olive Branch; a special friend, Judy Steahle of Swansea, Ill.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
